Steering
& Suspension: Note in the pictures that none of the steering components came painted originally.
This includes the tie rods, center link, adjusting sleeves, main steering sector, idler arm, and steering sector link.
The original tie rod adjusting sleeves came with a series of ridges around the circumference. These ridges
run along the length of the sleeve and can be seen in the photo. The new GM replacement is smooth, with no ridges.
The coil springs also came with no paint. The shocks inside the coil springs were painted semi-black
and were the spiral design shocks.

The idler arm shown in the photo is the original type.
The GM or AC Delco replacement is different in appearance. The replacement doesn’t have the
large hex nut with the grease fitting in the middle. The torsion bar is 1 1/8” in diameter on the
Z28 and came without any paint.
